The Psychedelic Safety Summit is just under a month away! As we finalize preparations, we want to share a full update to ensure everyone—whether you've been confirmed for months or recently RSVP’d—has all the information needed to prepare.
If you’re receiving this email, it’s because we’re expecting you in Berkeley for the Summit. We can’t wait to welcome you! If your plans have changed or you cannot be there for the full three days, we need to know as soon as possible so we can make adjustments and potentially welcome someone from our waitlist. Please contact us at summit@psychedelicsafety.institute.
Summit LogisticsBelow is a recap of essential Summit information, all of which is also available on the Summit website FAQ. Dates & Times: We'll gather on March 19th, 20th, and 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. for those who want to enjoy a light breakfast and connect before we begin.
Venue: UC Berkeley's Clark Kerr Campus Conference Center (2601 Warring St, Berkeley, CA 94720)
Traveling to Berkeley:
Flying in? Oakland International Airport (OAK) is closest, at about 30 minutes from the venue, while San Francisco International (SFO) is approximately 45-60 minutes away.
Public transit is excellent—the Berkeley BART station is just 1.2 miles from the venue, with multiple bus connections available.
If driving, limited parking is available at Clark Kerr Campus for a daily fee, though public transit or rideshare services are often more convenient.
Accommodations: If you are not local to the area and/or require accommodations during the Summit, we have a special rate reserved for Summit attendees at The Graduate Hotel, which is within walking distance from the Clark Kerr campus. Please use this link to book.
Optional Evening Connections hosted by PSI:
Wednesday, March 19: After 7 p.m., we'll gather at The Berkeley Alembic for music, conversation, tea, and other libations.
Friday, March 21: We'll decompress and celebrate our work at Portal in Oakland. Saunas and cold plunges will be available, along with music and food (bring a bathing suit!).
We’ll also soon share dinner options and evening activities on Thursday.
The Summit Format and Schedule
This Summit represents a unique and important convening of stakeholders across the psychedelic ecosystem. Rather than a traditional conference format, you'll actively participate in facilitated workshops alongside your peers to develop concrete solutions for improving psychedelic safety and public health. We are developing the Summit’s agenda based directly on the priorities identified in your stakeholder interviews and months of research. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed. If you’d like to learn more about this collaborative pre-work, please see the Summit website, which explains our process in more detail.
We have also published a preliminary schedule, with each day building on the next:
Day 1 - Knowledge: We'll establish a shared foundation by reviewing existing data and research, identifying what we collectively know and where important gaps and opportunities exist. We'll define shared terminology and frameworks.
Day 2 - Strategy: Building on our knowledge base, we'll collaboratively develop strategic approaches to address key gaps and challenges, creating shared priorities and criteria to focus our efforts where they'll have the greatest impact.
Day 3 - Action: We'll transform our insights into concrete implementation plans, establishing clear frameworks for ongoing collaboration with defined roles for individuals and organizations.
How to Prepare
Preparing for the Summit is straightforward:
Pre-Reading Materials: Starting next week after March 1st, we'll share carefully selected materials (about 45 minutes of reading) to provide important context for our discussions. These readings will ensure we all begin with a shared foundation.
Come as You Are: No presentations or special preparation is required—just bring your expertise, experiences, and perspectives. The Summit's success depends on your authentic engagement in facilitated workshops. Next week, we will share a participant agreement outlining these collaboration expectations in more detail.
We are Seeking Volunteers
We're still welcoming volunteers to make the Summit experience smooth and enjoyable. If you know anyone interested in assisting with the Summit, please direct them to this form.
What’s next
As we count down to our time together, you'll receive weekly updates with the following:
Pre-reading materials starting after March 1st
A detailed participant agreement
A final opportunity to confirm your badge information, dietary needs, and other preferences
The Summit agenda, including session tracks and groups
Final logistical information, including local dining recommendations
The Summit website continues to be refreshed with new information, participant profiles, and answers to frequently asked questions.
We're available to answer any questions you might have. Please don't hesitate to email summit@psychedelicsafety.institute. We're incredibly excited about the important work we'll accomplish together in just four weeks.
